ReLab is a community Makerspace that is being developed by the Recycling Museum of Hatillo, Puerto Rico, to support hands-on learning around plastic recycling and circular product design.

Through our consulting intervention, we helped the team align on the vision, target audiences, and objectives for the space, and facilitated participatory design workshops to develop the makerspace concept and guide decisions around the interior design, spatial layout, user workflows, and selection of furniture and tools.

We translated these decisions into materials and tools inventories, budgets with suppliers, 2D spatial layouts and user flow diagrams, as well as recommendations for accessibility, signage and wayfinding. The museum is now working to move ReLab from concept into implementation.
